Veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has launched a fundraiser to help ‘’kick the coronavirus away’’.
More than 8,000 people have died from the deadly COVID -19 worldwide. Italy has been greatly impacted. Zlatan plays for Serie A club AC Milan.
More than 35,000 cases have been reported in Italy and about 3,000 deaths have been confirmed by World Health Organisation.
Zlatan launched a fundraiser on Wednesday and he made two 50,000 euro donations.
‘’Italy has given me so much and, in this dramatic moment, I want to give back even more to this country that I love,’’ Said Ibrahimovic in a video posted in Instagram and twitter.
‘’I count on generosity of my colleagues, of all professional athletes and of those who want to make a small or large donation according to their possibilities, to kick this virus away.
‘’Together we can really help hospitals and doctors and nurses who selflessly work every day to save our lives. Because today we are the ones cheering for them!
‘’Lets together kick the coronavirus away and win this match!’’
After about an hour of his post, the fund had raised 109, 652 euros.
Zlatan finished post by saying: ‘’and remember, if the virus don’t go to Zlatan, Zlatan goes to the virus!’’
