Sharing is Caring

According to Robert Shaw, a public policy and economic analyst, youth are always at the forefront in demonstrations, streets protests and other violent confrontations.

This has been the case in Hong Kong, Spain and Lebanon. The issues against which youth protest also affect the rest of the population.

The analyst also points out that social media platforms have played a key role in giving a voice to the youth to be more assertive than ever before.

Further, 41% of the African population are aged 24 years and below and majority have access to basic education. Their growth is only held back by unemployment.

Robert Shaw concludes that have an educated but jobless youth population is a recipe for disaster.

Responding to youth protests with teargas and batons is just fueling those protests to become violent as we have seen in Hong Kong and Barcelona in Spain.
