Xavi says his staff are preparing ‘’a lot’’ to coach Barcelona as he eyes a return.
Al-Sadd manager Xavi was linked to the Barcelona vacancy when the La Liga giants dismissed Ernesto Valverde, before they turned their attention to Quique Setien.
The reigning champions have struggled this season and are now two points behind their rivals Real Madrid with 6 games left to play.
‘’The biggest hope I have now is to be Barca coach and get Barca back to winning ways,’’ Said Xavi via Sport.
‘’Not me but these players and Barca are triumping. And as a consequence, our technical staff, who are preparing for it a lot and it makes us really excited.’’
Xavi won a total of 25 trophies at Camp Nou as a player.
‘’I’m a club man. I would like to return at the right moment to start a project from zero.
‘’I’ve said it a lot of times but I want to take footballing decisions at Barcelona.
‘’It’s clear that after the elections the stage would be set, of course. I’m not ruling anything out.
‘’They came for me in January, we were speaking. I told them the circumstances and timing weren’t right.’’
Xavi left Barcelona in 2015 after making 505 appearances for the club. He joined Al-Sadd as a player before taking charge in 2019.
Xavi recently guided Al-Sadd to win Qatari Super Cup and Qatar Cup.
