Sharing is Caring

The World Food Programme, WFP, is doing a lot of good work in Baringo County.

As I write this article they are at Emining Ward in Baringo County registering farmers who are willing to be supported to improve their agricultural practices.

They are doing this under a new Programme they call Kilimo Endelevu Mashinani. That means they are supporting farmers to continue with agricultural practices which have been proven to be effective in their area.

WFP is providing farm inputs, drilling boreholes, proving water tanks for water storage, installing solar power, connecting households with water and pumping water for irrigation in the county.

The organization will also assist farmers create kitchen gardens towards ensuring there is food security.

WFP partners with Baringo County government on this project.

Previously, World Food Programme was involved in Cash Transfers to a tune of Ksh. 1 billion which did not have a lot of impact because of its nature and the possibility of people using the cash for other non-essential needs such as alcohol instead of food for their families.

Now, WFP, is adjusting and engaging farmers who are welling to improve their farming practices towards food stability.
