World Cup winner Andre Schurrle has confirmed his retirement at the age of 29.
The forward’s contract at Dortmund was earlier this week terminated a year early by mutual consent. He made 33 appearances for BVB across two seasons before spending campaigns on loan at Fulham and Spartak Moscow.
The former Chelsea star has now confirmed that he has retired from football.
He posted a picture of him lifting the World Cup trophy in 2014 on Instagram and wrote: ‘’I want to let you know that I’m stepping away from playing professional football!!
‘’On behalf of myself and my family I want to thank everybody who was part of this phenomenal years! The support and love you shared with me was unbelievable and more than I could ever asked for!
‘’Now I am ready and open for all the beautiful possibilities that are coming towards me.’’
