Katherine Perkins, 73, was injured by a 100- pound sailfish in the Coast of Florida. It is said that the fish leapt off from the coast and found the woman where it attacked her using its bill.
She was standing in the boat while her fellow colleagues were trying to pull from the lake using a fishing line. The Martin County sheriff’s office says that the woman was struck in her groin while taking a picture while her colleagues were busy fishing.
“The sailfish jumped out of the water and stabbed Katherine in the groin area while she was standing next to the center console” the sheriff said.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital but she did not survive the injuries
The sailfish is said to be one of the fastest fish species in the ocean.
