Joyce Wamaitha, a 39-year-old-woman was arrested for allegedly stealing a 5-day old baby from Dorcas Kivuva, who was just discharged from a hospital after delivery.
The woman is now held in Thika Police Station for questioning after being arrested in Muranga county.
Dorcas Kivuva, who is the baby’s mother, delivered through Cesarean Section with forced her to admission in Thika hospital.
Joyce’s mother has been close friends with the woman in the hospital. The closeness of the two friends made it possible for Joyce to visit her regularly.
Ms. Kivuva said she didn’t know the intentions of Joyce until she stole the baby.
“Sikuwa na mtu wa kunishugulikia nikiwa hospitali, yeye tu ndio alikuwa anakuja kunijulia hali. Nikamwambia nimepewa ruhusa kutoka akaniambia atanikujia mpaka na Uber.
“Mimi nilikuwa na kidonda kwa sababu nilikuwa nimefanyiwa CS, singebeba mtoto sasa ni yeye alimbeba na nikamwamini…akapotea.” Ms. Kivuva said.
