The US has slapped a ban on the so called “birth tourism” where pregnant women travel to America to give birth.
They take advantage of the American Constitution which provides that anyone born in America automatically becomes a US citizen.
That way, the ‘aliens’ are able to obtain the US citizenship for their kids.
Implementing these new regulations will be hard because the consular officials have no right to ask whether a woman is pregnant or has any intention to do so.
President Donald Trump is not happy at all about birth tourism in America.
The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that 36,000 foreign women give birth in the USA in 2012 and then left the country afterwards. They advocate for stricter immigration laws.
