Why do people even think of carrying guns to church?
Let’s use an example of Church of Christ of Letter-day saints. The church used to consider carrying a gun to church as being “inappropriate” now that is prohibited.
This has been documented in the Handbook 2 of the church. It specifically says that:
“Churches are dedicated for the worship of God and as havens from the cares and concerns of the world. With the exception of current law enforcement officers, the carrying of lethal weapons on church property, concealed or otherwise, is prohibited.”
Previously, the church just believed that carrying weapons to church was just inappropriate.
This changes became effective from the 1st week of August but that will be communicated to all local church leaders for further communication to all church members.
In Texas, USA, a new law is soon coming to allow legal handgun owners to carry their weapons to their places of worship as well as on school grounds. Analysts have already pointed out that this new law will real loosen gun restrictions in the state considering that even before that Texas had the most lax gun laws in the whole of United States of America.
“There was never a restriction on carrying guns in church…it used to be ‘polite’ to leave your rifles at the door..but gone are the days when one could do that,” wrote Jose Allen on Twitter.
Many people in America feel safe when they are carrying guns or know that one of them is carrying a gun for their own protection against the bad guys as reflected in the comment below:
“Guns have a place anywhere someone carrying wants to go! I know a church that always has at least four or five members carrying concealed. That makes it a safe place,” wrote John Lamb.
