President William Ruto delivered his speech the United Nations General Assembly.

 

In his address, he covered progress made in promoting security and peace in Somalia. President William Ruto said the neighboring nation is now joining the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member.

 

He launched the Tumaini Peace Initiative to bring peace and stability to South Sudan.

 

President William Ruto talked about Kenya’s deployment of 380 specially trained police officer to Haiti. The target is to deploy 2,500 police officers by January 2025.

 

The president called for reforms at the UN Security Council.

 

He criticized methodologies employed by credit rating agencies disadvantage African countries making it more difficult to access affordable financing from the international capital markets.
