The Universal Income research will receive USD $ 10 million. This is a two-year project which will investigate the new economy where jobs will disappear due automation.
The $10 million fund will be managed by the Economic Security Project (made up of activists and technologists).
Under universal basic income every citizen will be given a certain amount of money every month. This will not depend on one’s status of employment.
Currently, there is limited research on this topic hence the need to carry out a detailed study. The fund is financed by Chris Hughes (Facebook co-founder) and Sam Altman among others.

- American Center;
- Roosevelt Institute and;
- Chesapeake Climate Action Network
