President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that Katie Miller, press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence, tested positive for coronavirus.
Trump confirmed the news during a meeting with Republican members of Congress at the White House.
‘’She’s a wonderful young woman, Katie, she tested very good for a long period of time and then all of a sudden she tested positive,’’ Said Trump.
Six members of Pence’s team were abruptly taken off his plane after it was held on the tarmac outside Washington DC for over an hour on Friday morning, as he prepared to travel to Iowa to meet religious leaders. Reports say the 6 members had recent contact with Mrs Miller.
Katie Miller is wife to Trump’s senior advisor, Stephen Miller.
When asked about the possibility of an outbreak at the White House, President Trump told reporters: ’’All you can do is take precautions and do the best you can.’’
The White House has begun daily testing for Mr Trump and Mr Pence, and has claimed to be taking ‘’every single precaution to protect the president.’’
The virus has claimed over 76,000 lives in the USA.
