UN Civil Society Conference 2024 is happening right here in Nairobi. Today I participated on the Children rights and participation in decision making platforms.
Many of the participants at the UN Civil Society Conference 2024 agree that children have a right to participation but they are always under represented at key policy or decision making forums.
We also agree that there is need for a feedback loop so that children can get to know which of their input was adopted and acted upon.
At least 7 children were invited to participate in the UN Civil Society Conference 2024 in Nairobi and share their ideas on what they want the future to look like.
Children are the most vulnerable because they are affected during calamities such as wars, pandemics and natural disasters.
The children who were in attendance called for increased investment in education and disabled children should also be given an opportunity to participate in decision-making.
