The race in Kilifi county is between the incumbent Gov. Amason Kingi of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the Jubilee candidate Gideon Mung’aro.
The others who have declared to dethrone Kilifi County governor Amason Kingi include: former Labor Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi of Ford Asili, Professor Gabriel Katana of Ford Kenya and Michael Tinga of Wiper Party.
The Jubilee Party has been enticing the residents of Kilifi with a number of development projects as listed below:
- Issuance of title deeds
- Tarmacking of Malindi – Sala road (110Kms)
- Tarmacking of Mavueni-Mariakani Road
- Mavueni-Bamba road tarmacking
- Electrification of homes and water supply projects
Gideon Mung’aro was a very close ally of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga. Later Mung’aro became a rebel citing irreconcilable differences. That’s how he ended in the Jubilee backyard.
