One of the top strikers in Togo’s top division, Kossi Koudagba of ASC Kara, has succumbed to Malaria at the age of 25.
Koudagba had finished top striker in Togo for two years in a row and won the league in 2019.
Following the coronavirus pandemic that affected football activities in Togo, the 25-year-old left the city of Kara, North of Togo to stay with his relatives in Devie near the capital, Lome.
Koudagba grew up in Devie.
In a statement, ASC Kara praised Koudagba as being a top player.
“His only concern was to put the ball at the back of the net and he was doing that very, very well,” said Jean-Marie Eloh, manager of ASCK.
Koudagba was a key player in the first-ever qualification of Togo in the CHAN, the pan-African competition for domestic-based players.
He was named in Sparrowhawks squad for the tournament scheduled in April before it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
