The 400 Mawozo gang controls suburbs in Port-au-Prince and they are notorious for even kidnapping police officers.
The United States of America government chartered a plane and filled it with FBI agents and headed to Haiti.
The 400 Mawozo gang is infamous for their new concept of “collective kidnapping.”
It is estimated that there has been a 300 percent rise in kidnapping between July and September 2021.
The other dangerous gang operating in Haiti is “G9 y Familia” which is a criminal federation of 9 of the strongest gangs in Port-au-Prince.
Leaders of 400 Mawozo gang
Wilson Joseph is alleged to be the leader of the 400 Mawozo gang. He is popularly known as Lanmo Sanjou which means ‘death doesn’t know when it is coming.”
The rise in the number of gangs means that “rule of law” is being pushed aside and anarchy is reigning in Haiti and this is the order of the day.
The gangs such as 400 Mawozo and others are engaged in violation of human rights.
The situation is made worse when combined with other environmental issues such as the 7.2 magnitude earthquake which lead to the death of 2,200 people in Haiti.
