Philip married the then Princes Elizabeth in November, 1947 at Westminster Abbey.
He has always been one step behind the Queen for the last 64 years.
In August 2017 he retired from public life.
He was born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark in 1921 on the Greek Island of Corful.
In 1928, his family moved to England where he attended school and later studied in Germany and France.
In order to marry Prince Elizabeth, he renounced his Greek title, become a naturalized British citizen.
Philip and Elizabeth had four children: Charles, Andrew, Anne and Edward.
