The construction of Bonyunyu Dam expected to commence in FY 2019/2020
Last year we wrote about Bonyunyu Dam in Nyamira County. We now have updates based on the recently tabled national government budget estimates. The construction of Kisii Water Supply and Sanitation Project (Bonyunyu Dam) will be 40% complete by the end of financial 2019/2020.

By end of FY 2020/2021 the dam will be 60% complete and 80% complete by 2021/2022.
There is no clarity on when the dam will be 100% complete but at least we now know when its construction will commence if the funds gets approved since what we have is a draft of the budget estimates for FY 2019/2020.
The other dams whose construction is expected to commence in 2019/2020 Mwache dam in Kwale and Yamo dam. The Mwache dam is projected to be 60% complete by the end of the coming financial year.
