A drama teacher at a middle school has been accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student in her car on several occasions. Brittany Lopez-Murray, 31, who is currently working at Hialeah Middle, is alleged to have had sex with a male student on several occasions within a period of two months. The madam confessed her feelings towards the student in August.
The madam was arrested on Saturday October 2 and later charged with lascivious battery, engaging in sexual act with a minor and molestation according to a report by Miami Herald.
Local media reported that the teacher was exposed after the student’s sister-in-law discovered the texts and photos between the student and his female teacher.
The boy’s father also discovered the nude photos of the teacher on the son’s phone. Lopez-Murray and the boy exchanged messages on “how they enjoyed sex with each other.”
It is reported that she would sometimes pick the boy from basket practice and the two could engage in sex while in her car. The teacher has worked in the school for four years and was praised as being a “rookie teacher of the year” in 2017.
Her lawyers said that “she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
“We hope everyone is patient, doesn’t rush to judgment and respects the family’s privacy.”
“As a result of this arrest, M-DCPS will begin the process of terminating her employment and prevent her from seeking future work with this District.”
