Sharing is Caring

General Francis Ogolla burial ceremony was done this afternoon. It was a tense event considering that there were a lot of suspicions surrounding the circumstances under which the general died.

At the General Francis Ogolla burial ceremony villagers and family members did not want the military to dig the grave of the late general. They felt that they would be left to do this as part of their own contribution to the fallen gallant general of Alego Usonga, Siaya.

Equally, the villagers wanted the body of the general to be brought to the village for a night vigil.

The son of Gen Ogolla, Joel Ogolla, paid his last respects to his late father. At some point he displayed his dislike for politicians. He accused them of being all about noise and little action which is largely true. However, the politicians from Luo Nyanza did not allow that to go unchallenged. Siaya County Governor James Orengo called him to order and told him that his father took him to the graves of prominent Luo people because he wanted him to be on the side on the Luo people in history.

At General Francis Ogolla burial ceremony his son Joel Ogolla stated that the General had a good relationship with senior government officials and hence they would have not assassinated him. Governor James Orengo pointed out to Joel Omollo that he was the lead lawyer investigating the Ouko murder and one thing he learnt was that when conducting such cases nothing should be assumed. Anything is possible.

The Luo leaders who spoke especially Oburu Odinga, the chairman of Odinga family, called upon government to allow for a thorough investigation into the death of the gallant general Ogolla and make sure that is is done transparently to satisfy the members of the public. He also informed the mourners that his brother was feeling unwell hence would not make it to the funeral.

When it was the turn of president William Ruto to speak, there was some jeering from some mourners. However, he continued speaking despite the noise from a vuvuzela at some point. I held my breath thinking that they will not allow him finish his speech. He promised that there will be no assassinations and police brutality under his watch. He finished his speech went down and sat bringing that part of the funeral to an end.
