The state aims at protecting residents from HIV/AIDs, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and unplanned pregnancies during the lock down occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.
“We are providing free condoms mailed directly to those who request them. Each recipient will receive 10 condoms and 10 packets of lubricant in a plain mailer,” said Lynn Sutfin – health dept spokeswoman.

What the State of Michigan is doing is not new, previously the City of Detroit provided condoms to residents too.
African government can learn a lesson from these best practices and send condoms to those in need under their territory to prevent unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases since people have a lot of time for sexual escapades under the lock-downs, containment and stay-at-home orders.
