South Africa has delayed the reopening of schools by a week so as to give administrators more time to prepare.
According to the department of basic education, final year students in primary and secondary schools will reopen on 8th June.
Teachers are to report to school this week for orientation on safety guidelines intended to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The basic education ministry says the reopening was delayed after consultations with stakeholders.
Places of worship in South Africa have reopened in South Africa. Not more than 50 worshippers are allowed at a time.
South Africans will also be allowed to buy alcohol from Monday, June 1, for the first time in two months.
A ban on alcohol was introduced two months ago so as to enable police and hospitals to better focus on tackling coronavirus.
Alcohol will now be sold as from Monday to Thursday only for consumption at home.
South Africa is relaxing restrictions in bid to save the economy that has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
32,683 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in South Africa with virus claiming 683 lives.
