Sheffield United have signed Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu on a season-long loan.
The Wales international joined Chelsea in 2017 and has made 12 appearances in his Blues career.
A statement on Chelsea’s website read: ”Ethan Ampadu will continue his development in the Premier League with Sheffield United after joining the Blades on a season-long loan.”
The 19-year-old spent part of last season on loan at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. He will spend the upcoming season will Chris Wilder’s side as he hunts for more first team experience.
“Ethan is an outstanding young player for Chelsea, and we’ve worked really hard to get his signature for the season,” boss Chris Wilder told Sheffield United’s website.
“We need to thank Frank Lampard and the people at Chelsea for helping make this happen. We’ve got a good relationship with them and they know we’re going to take good care of him.
“It’s an important season for Ethan and playing in the Premier League for us is a good move for everyone. He brings a lot of qualities to the group and he’s someone we’ve tracked for two or three seasons.”
