Sevilla’s return Europe’s top competition Champions League was confirmed on Monday after Villarreal failed to beat Real Sociedad.

Villarreal needed to win the last three league games to deny Sevilla a top-four finish but they lost 2-1 to Sociedad at Estadio de la Ceramica.

La Liga’s top four has now been confirmed as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.

Sevilla reached the Champions League quarter-finals in the 2017-18 campaign but are in the Europa League this season.

Julen Lopetegui’s side will face Roma in the last-16. It will be a one-legged tie after the first leg was unable to be played due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On the other hand Real Madrid beat Granada 2-1 as they close in on the La Liga title.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are now one win away from dethroning two-time defending champions Barcelona.
