A court in Russia has imprisoned a former Orthodox Russian priest for 21 years following the rape and abuse against 70 children. Nicholas Stremsky, is known in Russia as the man with the ‘largest family’ and was even honored with a national order of Parental Glory. He has now been convicted of violent acts and rape against 70 children.
This happened in Urals in South-West of Russia. He served as an abbot in Saraktash town. Alongside his wife, he operated a foster home from early 1990s. He started by adopting children from orphanages in the region. Majority of the 70 children they adopted are now adults.
Stremsky was arrested back in 2019 and was investigated for offences against seven children. During the time he dismissed the allegations against him as slander.
Stremsky was sentenced to a prison in a penal colony. On Friday, the court banned Saraktash from working with minors for a period of 20 years and dropped his parenting honor. He was also banned from priesthood.
TASS, the Russian state media agency, revealed in 2020 that one of his adult adoptive children and her husband were given suspended sentences for restricting their liberty while they lived with Stremsky.
