On Tuesday 26 April Russian authorities announced that it is expelling 3 diplomats from Sweden after Stockholm expelled 3 Russian diplomats over the Ukraine war.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Russia stated that it summoned Sweden’s ambassador, Malena Mard, and handed her an explusion order of 3 Swedish diplomats from Russia.
This was in retaliation to the expulsion of 3 Russian diplomats from Stockholm.
Sweden has been at the forefront in supporting Ukraine and “the cover-up of crimes of Ukrainian nationalists against the civilian population of Donbass and Ukraine,” the state of Ministry of foreign affairs read in part.
On 5 April, Sweden expelled 3 Russian diplomats, accusing them of “not working in accordance with the Vienna convention (on diplomatic ties).”
