Richard Yuengling Jr. & family is the fifth-generation owner of D.G. Yuengling & Son.  The company is in brewing business producing 2 million barrels of beer per year.

After taking over his family business, he embarked on a modernization journey through upgrading packaging, equipment and distribution networks. He found success with Yuengling Lager which generates 85 percent of the sales.

Richard Yuengling drives a dirty Toyota Camry and leaves home for work very early in the morning.  He sometimes operates the machinery himself or operates trucks into the loading dock.

The Yuenglings have been brewing beer for 187 years.

The billionaire’s four daughters work at the brewing company. Dick Yuengling is the Chief Executive Officer and owner of the company. Wendy is the Chief Administrative Officer she joined the company in 2004 and she spent time working in every department. Debbie works at the company as Employee Engagement and Culture manager. She is involved in CSR activities. Sheryl is in charge of order services and administration. She joined the company in 2001 as a Warehouse manager. Jennifer is the Vice President Operations. She is involved in production scheduling.

The company is the oldest brewer run by family in America.

 

Richard Yuengling works for 12 hours a day seven days a week. At 1 pm he takes a nap which he always recommends.

 

In 1829 a Germany immigrant named D.G. Yuengling founded the company. Richard who is the fifth generation of the family business started working at the brewery at age 15 during summers. In 1985 he purchased the company from his aging father whose health was failing.

 

The company production has expanded from 137,000 in 1985 to 2.9 million barrels from 3 breweries in 2025. Richard has no plans of going public nor does he imagine matching Budweiser’s 102 million barrels a year production.
