Raila Odinga has urged his supporters to remain calm as continue the process of seeking justice. Odinga was defeated in the 2022 general elections by his opponent William Ruto who was declared the president elect.

The former Prime Minister is now preparing to file a petition to challenge the presidential results announced by Chebukati. He earlier claimed that the servers of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission were hacked.

Religious leaders had gone to Raila’s residential home based in Karen, Nairobi, to pay him a visit. The leaders are on the move to maintain peace and order in the country.

“We have decided to move to court because we want to see justice served and peace prevail in our nation. We want to know the truth because some of the things that were done by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) prior to the announcement of the presidential polls are very questionable,” said the Azimio presidential candidate.

He also claimed that it is unusual to have majority of the IEBC officials having different opinions of the presidential results.

Four commission official differed with the results and did not attend the issuing of presidential certificate to William Ruto as the president elect.

“Based on this, it remains unclear who actually won the presidential polls but we don’t want to see chaos on our streets and that’s why we have opted to move to court,”

“I will follow the law and present evidence of the said malpractice before the Supreme Court bench who will then determine the petition.” Raila claimed.

Among the religious leaders was Bishop Jackson Ole Sapit. He also emphasized on Kenyans to maintain peace.

“Looking at what has happened in our country, we have been assured the country is at peace because of their performance in terms of advising the electorate that we need a peaceful country and we can affirm that the Odinga’s family stands for peace,”

“They have decided to pursue truth and justice through the court which is what we have been advocating and crying for. Let us all be patient as they pursue that path.” said Ole Sapit.
