If I was to rank today’s debate at the Senate of Kenya concerning vocational training centers, out of 10, I award them 4.
This is because most of those who contributed were copying the previous speakers.
It was clear display of lack of content to an extent that one of the Senators stated that university education has not been of use to us Kenyans so we should focus on vocational training for skills such as plumbing, carpentry etc. The problem is in quality not the concept of university education.
I want to remind the senators that as much as we need carpenters and plumbers, we also need critical thinkers to move the nation forward.
That is something to digest.
