Tanzania President John Magufuli has dismissed Coronavirus kits used in Tanzania after samples taken from a sheep and a pawpaw tested positive.
It was during an event held on Sunday in Chato, North West Tanzania that Magufuli said the kits had ‘’technical errors’.
Magufuli had previously told Tanzanians to pray the Coronavirus away and said the kits were faulty.
Random non-human samples that had been assigned human names and were submitted to Tanzania’s laboratory to test for Coronavirus, with the lab technicians left unaware of their origins.
The samples were from a sheep, a pawpaw and a rabbit.They were assigned human names and ages. Samples from the sheep and the pawpaw tested positive and the president added that it was likely that some people were being tested positive when in fact they were not infected with the virus.
Magufuli said he had instructed the Tanzanian security forces to check the quality of the testing kits.
