President Donald Trump has confirmed that the White House Coronavirus task force would wind down as he toured the Arizona Honeywell plant that makes face masks.

As he toured the plant, Trump decided not to wear a face mask despite suggesting earlier that he would wear one. Instead, he wore goggles.

The coronavirus task force was announced by Trump on January 29th and its main objective was to monitor, contain and mitigate the spread of Covid – 19.

Vice President Mike Pence has been leading the group. He said on Tuesday that the groups work will be transferred to other parts of the government including the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The changes are expected to take place this May or early June.

The taskforce will be substituted with ‘something in a different form’ as the USA moves into phase 2 of responding to global coronavirus pandemic that has killed over 70,000 Americans.

‘’We will have something in a different form. ‘’ Said Trump as he toured the plant.

‘’I’m viewing our great citizens of this country to a certain extent and to a large extent as warriors. They’re warriors. We have to open our country. Will some people be affected, badly? Yes. But we have to get our country open’’.

Trump said he will continue receiving advice from health officials and experts even if the taskforce is disbanded.

As of May 6th, United States had confirmed 1,237,633 coronavirus cases with the virus claiming 72,271 lives.
