Domenico Giani the Vatican chief of Police who also doubles as Pope Francis security guard resigned on 14 October.
He was linked with the leakage of a police flyer which identified 5 employees of the Holy See who had been sacked due to the ongoing financial investigations.
The Vatican informed the public that Domenico Giani was not directly responsible for the leakages but he had to resign “out of love for the church and faithfulness” to Pope Francis.
The individual who leaked the document to the Italian newspaper L’Espresso is still unknown.
The Chief bodyguard has served the Vatican as a security officer for two decades running alongside the Popemobile during foreign trips and public events attended by Pope Francis among other popes.
