Uasin Gishu County is known to be the home of champions in athletics. This being a political campaigns seasons I will focus on political aspirants.
A number of people have expressed their desire to take up various political offices in Uasin Gishu such as Governor, Senator, Women Representative and Members of County Assembly.
Recently, I traveled to Eldoret where I saw first hand their expression of interest in the form of posters and billboards at strategic points in Eldoret.
Below is a brief profile of each of the aspirants who were featured on the billboards:
David Kiptoo Singoei is on the race to succeed the current Governor Mr. Mandago. He is an MCA and a former athlete who represented Kenya at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics Games where he finished second in the 800 meters race.
Kiptoo is currently the MCA for Ngenyilel ward. He is the only MCA to express his ambition to rise to the gubernatorial position.
Oliver Kipchumba Karori
Oliver Kipchumba Karori is an Advocate of High Court of Kenya. He is vying for the senatorial seat in Uasin Gishu County.
In December 2021, Oliver Kipchumba Karori erected a large billboard in Eldoret town as a bold declaration of his intention to take over the office of the Senator in Uasin Gishu County.
The large billboard is located along Eldoret-Kapsabet road. Kipchumba plans to vie on a UDA ticket.
