Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been left out of the France squad after testing positive for coronavirus, Didier Deschamps has confirmed.
Pogba 27, has been replaced by 17-year-old Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
“At the last minute, we had to make a change to the list because Paul Pogba had been on the list but, unfortunately for him, he took a test yesterday that came back positive this morning,” Deschamps told reporters on Thursday.
“So, at the last minute, he was replaced by Eduardo Camavinga.”
A Manchester United statement read: “Pogba has been replaced in the squad after testing positive for COVID-19. The midfielder will be unable to add to his 69 caps and 10 goals for his country in the games next month.
“Everybody at United wishes Paul a speedy recovery ahead of the new season.”
France are scheduled to play Sweden in Solna on September 5 before hosting Croatia three days later.
Pogba will be self isolating for he next two weeks meaning he is ruled out of the games.
