Klaus Gjasula made history in the German Bundesliga during Paderborn’s 5-1 loss to Werder Bremen on Saturday.
The midfielder was shown a yellow card for the 17th time this season for fouling Josh Sargent in the first half at Benteler Arena.

Gjasula surpassed the record set by Tomasz Hajto when he was booked 16 times in 1998-99 campaign while playing for Duisburg.
Following the loss, Paderborn are guaranteed to finish in the bottom three. They sit 8 points adrift the relegation play-off spot with three games remaining to complete the season.
