Forward Odion Ighalo is likely to return to China when his loan deal expires on 31st May. The Red Devils are struggling to agree an extension with his parent club Shanghai Shenhua.
The 30-year-old was signed on a short term deal in January following an injury to Marcus Rashford.
However, the global coronavirus pandemic has led to football activities being suspended before the season could be completed.
Ighalo’s loan will end before the Premier League’s intended return date. Marcus Rashford is also expected to have fully recovered from injury.
United are still hoping they can get a short term extension to Ighalo’s loan as they are still in 3 competitions and could play up to 18 matches over two months.
However, negotiations with Shanghai Shenhua have proved difficult and the Chinese club wants Ighalo to return back to China as agreed earlier.
