KPL side Nzoia Sugar have sacked Head Coach Collins ‘Korea’ Omondi following a run of poor results.
Omondi took over Nzoia Sugar FC last year and is understood to have been told of his fate after the club lost 3-2 to Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega last week.
Former team captain and outgoing Bukembe FC Head Coach Sylivester Murukurwa is the leading candidate to replace Omondi on a permanent basis.
Murukurwa led Nzoia Sugar against KCB on Saturday at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma. The game ended 0-0.
Evans Kadenge, the new Nzoia Sugar FC chairman confirmed that Murukurwa will take charge of the team on an interim basis.
‘’We have asked Omondi to step aside as we discuss his future but we are going to issue a comprehensive statement next week on Thursday. Performances’ have been poor and it was expected for such a decision to be taken if results did not come by,’’ Said Kadenge.
Omondi has never won a single Kenya Premier League game with Nzoia Sugar FC since joining the club last year to replace Godfrey Oduor who left for KCB as an Assistant Coach.
Omondi has also coached Mathare, Nairobi Stima, KCB and Mathare Youth Sports Association.
