Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju collapsed in the ring and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead 30 minutes later.
This happened in Ghana where the fight was happening. He collapsed onto the ropes without taking a punch.
Ghana Boxing Authority revealed that Nigeria Boxing Board Control had approved the fight.
A former coach of Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, Babatunde Ojo, stated that he had advised the boxer from picking last minute fights.
“You can’t just pick a fight on short notice, you need at least a month to prepare,” coach Ojo said.
