The minister of education has reversed the reopening of schools in Nigeria for final-year primary and secondary students.
Education minister Adamu Adamu said that schools would only reopen when it’s safe to do so.
At the moment, coronavirus cases are surging in the west African nation.
Mr Adamu Adamu was speaking to reporters at the presidential palace. According to him, reopening of schools would not be any time soon.
Millions of primary and secondary school students will now have to stay home till the virus curve is flattened.
Students in various tertiary institutions and universities will most likely not graduate this year.
A total of 30,249 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Nigeria, with the virus claiming 684 lives.
