Nigeria has fined a British aviation company Flairjet after its plane contravened a flight ban on commercial flights put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The Flairjet plane was held back on 17th May for carrying passengers despite only having approval for humanitarian operations.
Nigeria has banned all passenger flights into the country except for those returning Nigerian citizens or evacuating foreign nationals.
Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika tweeted saying the company was fined for violating civil aviation regulations and had been reported to the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
