Sharing is Caring

Kakamega Homeboyz coach Nicholas Muyoti was named the SJAK coach of the month on Tuesday.

This becomes the first accolade to be won by the former AFC Leopards midfielder. Muyoti bagged Ksh. 75000 and a personalized award.

Gor Mahia Head Coach Steven Polack was the other contender for the award, whose winner is voted by the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya.

Muyoti thanked the team after winning the award.

‘’My appreciation goes to the players, management and sponsors for working tirelessly and ensuring that we win our games. We are prepared to go all the way to win this league even though our motto remains taking one game at a time,’’ Said Muyoti at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

In the month of January, Kakamega Homeboyz won all their four games and scored nine goals in those games. They beat Kisumu All Stars 4-0, beat Zoo 1-0, before thrashing Gor Mahia 2-1 at Bukhungu Stadium. They then ended the month by trouncing Kariobangi Sharks 2-1.

Muyoti would love to break Gor Mahia’s dominance in the Kenya Premier League.

‘’All the teams in the top four or five have a chance and its only goint to depend on who has the best run in. But I’d love to break Gor Mahia’s dominance and give the top division some excitement. The league is not exciting at all when one team wins every season.’’ Said Muyoti.

Gor Mahia are top of the Kenya Premier League table with 45 points. Kakamega Homeboyz come third with 41 points. Homeboyz will play 16th-placed Chemelil Sugar on Sunday at the Bukhungu Stadium.
