Sharing is Caring

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, an economist and former Finance Minister of Nigeria has become the first black woman to head the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The WTO has been without a leader for far too long after the previous leader resigned one year ahead of the end of his term.

The WTO has a mandate to promote free trade around the globe but in recent times the global organization has faced a lot of challenges including the war between China and USA.

Ngozi Okonjo worked at the World Bank Group for 25 years rising up the ranks to the position of a Managing Director.
