Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni has said the country is preparing for a 40,000-bed field hospital at Nambolee Stadium in Uganda, for coronavirus patients.

The health authorities in Uganda were initially planning for 9,000-bed facility but President Museveni instructed for the capacity to be increased.

657 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Uganda.

Mr Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said that people have not died in Uganda because initially his directives were being followed to the letter leading to a few number of people being hospitalized.

Speaking on Uganda’s Heroes day, President Museveni said that with the rising numbers, it would be hard to stop the coronavirus deaths.

‘’If the numbers are too big, then they will overwhelm even the big place we have prepared.’’ He warned.

President Museveni said he is disturbed by images of Ugandans disregarding the preventative measures put in place against the deadly virus.
