Guiness book of Records have named the world’s oldest couple. John Henderson, 106, and Charlotte, 105, are set to celebrate 80 years of marriage mid next month.
The two have a combined age of 211 years and hail from Austin in Texas, United States.
John and Charlotte met at the University of Texas in 1934 where Charlotte was studying teaching and John was playing in the football team. They got married in 1939 and spent their honeymoon in a hotel room spending about 7 US Dollars (About Ksh700).
The couple stays at Senior Living Community at Longhorn Village where the University of Texas Alumni group resides.
In 2012, John Henderson was named the oldest living former University of Texas footballer. He still exercises daily and attends at least one Longhorn Village match every year.
When asked the secret to a happy marriage, John responded by saying ‘’Live life in moderation and be cordial to your wife’’
