Antony Martial ended Manchester United’s seven-year wait of a Premier League hat-trick against Sheffield United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men beat Chris Wilder’s side 3-0 thanks to a treble from Antony Martial.
The France international scored two goals in the first half before wrapping his first career hat-trick in the 74th minute.
The 24-year-old is the first United player to score thrice in a league match since Robin van Persie against Aston Villa in 2013.
Van Persie’s hat-trick secured the Premier League title for the Red Devils in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge. United beat Aston Villa 3-0 in that game.
Since then, United have failed to win the top-flight title.
Martial’s hat-trick took him to 19 in all competitions this season.
United sit fifth in the Premier League, two points behind fourth placed Chelsea.
The Blues will host Manchester City on Thursday.
