Manchester United drew 1-1 with Arsenal in a Premier League match that was played at Old Trafford yesterday night. The match attracted over 73,000 fans.
Manchester United’s Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay opened the goal scoring in the 45th minute and the game headed into halftime with Manchester United 1-0 up. Arsenal’s Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled the scores in the 58th minute. It had to take the intervention of the VAR for the goal to be accepted.
Manchester United averaged 54% ball possession compared to Arsenal’s 46. The Red Devils managed 10 shots out of which 4 were on target. Arsenal managed 8 shots out of which 6 were on target.
Referee Kevin Friend Yellow carded six players namely; Calumn Chambers, Marcus Rashford, Andreas Pereira, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and Granit Xhaka.
The draw confirms that Manchester United have made their worst start of the Premier League. They have only won two games this season and sit 10th in the Premier League Table with 9 points.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Said after the game that he has a lot of reasons to be confident despite Manchester United’s poor start of the Premier League season 2019/2020.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery was willing to take some positives from the draw at Old Trafford and insisted that the Arsenal players must be ready to offer more.
The draw leaves Arsenal at position 4 of the Premier League table with 12 points.
Manchester United’s next Premier League match will be on Sunday 6th October against Newcastle at St James Park. They’ll face AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday at The Cars Jean Stadion in Den Haag.
Arsenal will face AFC Bournemouth in their next Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium on 6th October 2019. They’ll play against Standard Liege at home on Thursday in the Europa League.
