Sharing is Caring

A million dollar question is: can a woman on birth control get pregnant? A couple who were using contraceptives to avoid having more children in addition to the five they have already, have welcomed four children born at one birth- quadruplet.

Mr and Mrs Christopher Agbo, who lives in Abuja, welcomed the quadruplets on May 26 at a private clinic in Kubwa, Abuja.

Mr Christopher, who hails from Benue State, said that having been blessed with 5 children, they decided to stop having more babies.

His wife Mercy, then embarked on using family planning. She had an implant contraception surgery at a local health facility.  They also supplemented the methods with drugs from a pharmacy.

Despite all these efforts on family planning, Mercy still conceived and gave birth to the quadruplet.

“But despite all these, she conceived and was confirmed to be carrying four babies after a scan,” the husband revealed to the Daily Trust.

“We then visited the Kubwa General Hospital where she had a second scan and the same thing was confirmed; even with the expected date of delivery next month,” he added.

“But we had to rush back last Thursday as she started observing signs of delivery. She gave birth to the four babies without any operation.”

“I am not aware of the said use of contraception by the mother of the quadruplets. But I presume that if it had been properly used it should not have led to that,” commented the Chief Medical consultant, Dr. Onogwu Joseph of the hospital where Mercy gave birth.
