Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Harry Maguire will remain United captain in 2020-21 season despite his legal case in Greece.
Maguire, 27, was found guilty of resisting arrest, aggravated assault and attempts of bribery at a Syros court in August.
The England international was tried alongside two defendants after the incident involving the police in the island of Mykonos.
Maguire denied the charges.
His legal team lodged an appeal and a retrial will take place at a more senior court.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke ahead of Manchester United’s pre-season with Aston Villa on Saturday, confirming Maguire will wear the armband for the upcoming season.
“Of course, Harry, as you said, had a difficult summer,” the Ole told MUTV. “He didn’t have a long break. His break was different to others as we gave him a few more days and, after, he’s come back and looked fine.

“He’s handled it really well and, of course, I’ll be here to support him. He is going to be our captain. We’ll just leave Harry and his people and the process to run.
“For me, he is a top, an absolute top human being and has always been a positive guy with the right values. So I really hope we can see Harry performing at his best.”
Manchester United will begin their 2020-21 Premier League campaign on September 19 at home to Crystal Palace.
