Lionel Messi’s private jet was grounded following a bomb scare at Rosario Airport in Argentina. All flights were suspended.
Messi briefly returned to Rosario on Monday following Argentina’s Copa America triumph at the Maracana where he was awarded Argentina’s first major trophy since 1993.
Lionel Messi was planning to jet off for Miami, Florida for holiday with his family, however, his flight was delayed after someone claimed to have placed a bomb in his bag.
Security agencies had to urgently step in before suspending all flights, enforcing emergency protocols and evacuating the airport. A moment later, the issue was resolved but the delay caused a huge flight backlog which messed Messi’s schedule.
An airport statement read: “At 11:50 am, the airport security police (PSA) activated the preventive emergency plan due to a situation of suspicion. The building was evacuated as a precaution.”
Messi agreed to take a 50 % pay-cut to sign a new five-year deal with the LaLiga side. This agreement will see Messi stay at Camp Nou until he attains the age of 39.
