The hotel belonging to Lionel Messi valued at £26 million was ordered to be demolished allegedly because it does not meet city standards. The soccer legend playing for Paris Saint-Germain is originally from Argentina.

Lionel Messi takes home £650,000 every week from his football career.  The hotel named MiM Sitges is located quite a distance from the private estate where he lived during his days at Barcelona.

El Confidential reported that a court order is pending that will eventually lead to the demolition of the hotel. The media outlet contacted Messi’s camp for comment which was declined.

Lionel Messi is also the own of hotels in Majorca and Ibiza under the Majestic Hotel Group. He is reported to have spent £26 million on Hotel MiM Sitges which is located just 100 feet from the sea.

It has now been revealed that Lionel Messi acquired the hotel property without knowing that Sitges Town Hall had already ordered for its demolition for non-compliance with construction codes.

According to the council, the hotel’s balconies are too big and the situation is worsened by the fact that the entire construction depends on them which means that if they downsize or torn down the entire hotel will collapse.

Lionel Messi only knew about the demolition plan when he was approached by a local newspaper for comments. The hotel in question is made up of 77 bedrooms out of which 5 are junior suites and one suite and costs £105 per night during the high season to stay in a standard room.

At the rooftop Sky Bar which is a key marketing feature for the hotel in the area, has a pool and a great panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea and a wide variety of cocktails on the menu.

At the hotel, you can get other services such as spa, massages, hydrotherapy circuit, Sauna, sensory showers, Turkish bath, saltwater pool and a cold plunge tub.

The hotel is said to be environmentally-friendly considering that 80 percent of the materials used for construction are recycled or recyclable. Further there are tanks which collect wastewater from every shower which is filtered, cleaned, treated and used for watering plants and for toilets.
